Of Monsters and Men

Somerset House in the Strand is probably one of the best settings for a concert, or also for open air cinema that they organise over the summer months. Over the years, we've managed to come down here for exhibits, good brunch, fashion week or simply to admire the building and get closer to the river.

Last night it was a concert night, part of the summer series, and on stage were Of Monsters and Men, a band from Iceland who have become quite big over the last year. There is nothing about Little Talks, their debut single, about this band as they brought a full display of acoustics, colour, voices and music. Each one of the 6 members of the band is perfectly capable of playing numerous instruments, which is fairly depressing for anyone musically challenged as I am.

The only downside for the perfect evening was that as they only have 1 album the concert was actually short and we walked away wanting more. The good news is that they mentioned they were heading home now, after a long tour, and that might mean that they will get to make more wonderful melodic folk music.
